Last Sunday, 12/10/2014, Astrid travelled to Plymouth to compete in the first Westward Cross Country League meeting of the season. This was her first try at this discipline for the club. Disappointingly, she was the only member from DAAC to take part, so must have been quite a daunting occasion. Nevertheless she showed maturity above her age and completed the 1500metre course, finishing an impressive 11th of 32 on debut, in a time of 10minutes 20secs, a mere 49 seconds behind the winner, taking some experienced scalps along the way. She secured a massive 90 points for herself and the club, so I hope you will all join me in congratulating her on a superb effort and hopefully she is looking forward to the next fixture, which takes place in 3 weeks time, at Newquay. Hopefully her performance will encourage more members to take part. These events are open to U/11, U/13, U/15, U/17 and Senior, males and females alike, with veteran categories for V35, V40, V45, V50 and V55 ladies and V40, V45, V50, V55, V60 and V65 men. If you haven't tried it before, why not give it a go and help promote the club at the same time. WELL DONE Astrid!!!
